Heart Lake backpacking wknd/ Zaxs bday celebration

We drove down and had dinner in Ashland and camped in ashland ski area at the dead end road. We woke up to a surprise snow and walked behind the gait a little over a mile before heading down for brunch at Morning Glory, which is always a must stop when in Ashland for breakfast. We headed down towards shasta and to Castle Lake and waited on a traveler friend Kim and her dog Oslo. We walked the 1.25 miles up to heart lake and set up camp. We then walked the ridge trail loop around and came down and had dinner and a fire. We woke up and walked the trail towards the PCT without our packs before picking up and heading down. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.
