Mew is an alternative rock band, considered pop by others, born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Characterised by a particularly surreal sound and abstract-sounding songs, the band has received numerous accolades in their native Denmark and recently in London, where they have been based since they began their contract with Sony Music to release their third album, Frengers (2003). They currently have seven albums to their name, illustrating their peculiar evolution since their beginnings in 1996, although they have considered themselves a band since before any of them knew how to play an instrument. Their performances on their current UK tour are full of sound, colour and the soaring vocals of vocalist Jonas Bjerre.
